Saturday night I play at--> The Country Buddy Dick Blue Ball

I'm excited because Saturday night get to play a short set at The Belly Up in Solana Beach. It's a celebration of the life and times and music of Buddy Blue an Country Dick Montana. The Beat Farmers are going to play a  rocking set! AND-- The Buddy Reunion Band will be swinging. I'm probably going to do a 30 min set and I'll even be backed up by The Farmers for some songs. Both Country Dick Montana and Buddy Blue had a profound impact on my life and music. Country Dick used to come out to many a Rugburns show at Kelly's Pub in Old Town and regale me with tales from the road. I would listen with wide eyed amazement and dream of way day becoming a full time touring musician as well. Country Dick played accordion and piano and sang on The Rugburns first CD Morning Wood. Speaking of Morning Wood--- That CD would have probably never been released if it weren't for the help and tutelage of Buddy Blue. He came in to see us play one night at Kelly's Pub on El Cajon Blvd and 70th street.  I was thrilled when he walked in the pub with Michael Addis. It was a chance meeting that changed my life forever. Buddy got us signed to Bizarre Planet Records and produced Morning Wood. Hitchhiker Joe started getting played like crazy by Michael Halloran and the rest is history.

Both of these men are now in rocknroll heaven and I miss them dearly. Saturday night will be in their honor. I will play my lil heart out for these departed icons of The San Diego scene. They were both teachers to me and I am grateful.

See ya Saturday Night!
