pieces of ewe

electric.jpgIts kind of funny how life is. You could be walking down the street in Brooklyn and all of a sudden you see a kid pulling an electric switch. It looks almost real but it obviously isn't. Then you start to thinking about the best meal you ever had. Mine was in some weird suburb of Paris at a Morrocan restaurant that would only serve couscous on Saturdays from 10 am to about 6 pm. I have never tasted anything so good. I think everyone in the place was smoking except for me. I felt like I should have a cig in just to be in fashion. But when I tried, my weak little asthmatic lungs started sputtering and coughing and spazzing out. I was with Herb Cohen and our cab ride to the place must have cost about 100 bucks. This was in 1997 or so. I thinkI still have the card from the heavenly little joint. Let me go see if I can find it in my old wallet. Ahhhh, here it is! Now I'll scan it. Check it out: couscous.jpg Now as I said, the guy I was with knew of this place. Herb Cohen is the guy who started Bizarre Records with Frank Zappa. He Managed Frank, Lenny Bruce and Tom Waits at different times. He also signed The Rugburns. Herb knows where the best places to eat in any city are anywhere on any day. You could say to him how you were about to go to Libya and he would say,"Ohhh, I know this great little spot that only serves osso bucco on Wednesdays and they have belly dancers." He wasn't kidding around either. He was always right about such things. As I look on the back of this card from the restaurant there is some scribbling. I'm not sure what it means but I'll scan it too. Here ya go: number.jpg
